Letter from the Director-January 2023

The New Year arrives bringing with it rain, snow, and bitter chill. We are winding down from our busy holiday season. We are still sorting food from “Lights on Glen Cove”. We appreciate all of the food drives during the holidays from churches, schools, businesses and private gatherings. We had so many hams donated for Christmas that we didn’t have to purchase any for our families. Christmas gifts were purchased for our kids from Tudor Oaks.

As always, I look back and remember how blessed I am to be associated with the pantry. I have a ton of very dedicated volunteers who make this place run like a well-oiled machine.

There are challenges with the prices of things that we were purchasing…eggs $5.29 per dozen and milk up over $3.00 per gallon.

Please keep us in mind when you are shopping. Every little bit helps. If you have food donations please try to bring to our pantry during working hours or any barrel located throughout the city. This is not good weather to leave perishables or non-perishables in our bins. Thanks in advance for your help.

Julie
