It is a beautiful early summer morning at the food pantry. We are starting our day at 7:00 with Shirley going to National Baking Company in Greendale to pick up the bakery. I start my day at 7:45 by picking up the mail, listening to messages, and posting on the website and Facebook. Everyone else will start trickling in around 9. Our guys grab the van and run to Costco, Aldi, Pick N Save, Jimmy Johns, Little Caesars, and Longhorn Steakhouse and Starbucks in Greendale. Other volunteers set up the tables outside for our perishables and bakery. We also fill orders for our clients who are home bound to be delivered. All of this takes place well before we open our doors at 1:00 pm to serve the families of Muskego and the surrounding area. We run very smoothly because of our volunteers. Someone is doing something for the pantry 6 out of the 7 days of the week. Pretty much we are away from the pantry on Sunday unless someone has a food drive and we need to meet them at the pantry. We also have teens volunteering who need to put in volunteer hours for church, scouts, honor society or court ordered. If you can’t tell from this letter, I am pretty proud of our volunteers and the business we run. With all of that being said, without the support of our community we wouldn’t be able to help so many people.
Thanks for your commitment.
Julie
